What media do you work in?
Mostly oil paint on acrylic primed cotton canvas. My preference is stretched canvas on a wooden adjustable stretcher. I sometimes work in charcoal on high quality paper.
How large is your work?
Currently, I prefer small to medium sized paintings that I can complete before the oil paint starts to dry. I am doing a lot of new work at the 36cm x 46cm size (14” x 18”) and really enjoying it. This is subject to change of course!
How much does your work cost?
By looking at prices of work on the gallery pages you can get an idea of my price range. Prices are based on a formula for canvas size. Approximately $360 per 10” x 10” / 25.4cm x 25.4cm. All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD).
Where do you live and paint?
I live in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, and paint a lot in the area, but I roam far and wide to seek inspiring locations for new work - visually dramatic landscapes, low horizons and big skies, especially sunrises and sunsets.
Do you only paint landscapes?
Absolutely not! I also draw and paint figure studies, portraits, animals and still lifes. Traditional pet portraits is an area I’d like to explore further. The current series of work on the website explores landscapes, but I enjoy painting all kinds of subjects.
Do you accept commissions?
Yes. The price of commissioned work varies according to the amount of work required to prepare for and create the work, as well as the size and complexity of the subject.
Is the work framed?
No. Framing should be the personal decision of the buyer. I recommend simple box or shadow framing. I paint the edges of the canvas a dark raw umber, for a tidy, clean finish.
Do you exhibit in galleries and where can I see your physical work?
I’m not currently exhibiting through the commercial gallery system. I did for many years, but am currently exploring online display and direct client relationships. You can arrange to visit my studio in Geelong to see my work by appointment.
Did you study fine art?
Kind of. I studied to become a teacher, specialising in visual art and design. I also studied art history and theory. However, all my drawing and painting ability has been self directed.
Do you send work all over the world?
Yes. I’m happy to discuss packaging and freight costs with buyers on a case by case basis, according to their location throughout the world.
